TOWSON, December 10th — INSIGHT ConneX and Vehicles for Change are proud to announce Vehicles for Change as a Partner of the INSIGHT ConneX community.
About Vehicles for Change
Since 1999, Vehicles for Change has provided the tools necessary to achieve financial stability through our car donation and reentry internship programs. VFC repairs and provides donated cars to worthy families so they may gain or maintain employment and take their children to afterschool, recreation and athletic activities never before possible. In the process of refurbishing these vehicles, VFC trains individuals, most who have recently been released from incarceration, to be auto mechanics.
Awarding more than 7,500 cars to families, VFC is the largest low income car ownership program in the country. The training program, launched in 2015, has trained and placed more than 180 individuals as auto mechanics. This program boasts a 98% completion and a 98% placement rate and a recidivism rate of less than 3%! They also operate 2 social enterprises, a garage business, in Halethorpe and Waverly and a used car business both are open to the public.
